Britain had an entire empire with the largest navy in the world as well as many well armed troops at its disposal. America had:
- a better understanding of the land in Lexington and Concord.
- the for more attached attitude to the war. Their entire livelihood was at stake in this war, Britain not so much.
- a lower cost of transportation or troops.
- the aid of enemies of Britain.(?)
