defining variables
let n1 be the first number
n2 be the 2nd number

add them together, you get 218
n1+n2 =218

n1 is 47 less than n2
n1=n2-47

do some substitution
n2-47 +n2 = 218

solve for n2

then use n2 to figure out n1
